Conference Venue

IWOMP & EuroMPI 2026 will be held at TU Wien Campus Karlsplatz, in the heart of Vienna (Austria).
The address of TU Wien is Karlsplatz 13, 1040 Vienna, Austria (GoogleMaps). Instructions for how to get to TU Wein are detailed under Local Transportation below.

Registration & Catering

  • Registration will be at the Boecklsaal, on the 1st floor (TU Wien map & Roominfo)
  • Coffee and Lunches on 7-8 Oct will be served in the Foyer, 1st floor (Roominfo)

EuroMPI & IWOMP 2026 will share two rooms

  • Boecklsaal, 1st floor: This room will hold the joint keynotes and one track on 7-8 Oct  (TU Wien map & Roominfo)
  • Room ADEG19, ground floor: This room will hold one track on 7-8 Oct, and all on 9 Oct (TU Wien maps & Roominfo)


Social Event: EuroMPI & IWOMP Joint Dinner

The joint EuroMPI & IWOMP dinner will take place at Rathauskeller / Grinzinger Keller on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.

  • How to get there:
    • Sightseeing (1 hour): path 1 or path 2
    • Public transport including sightseeing light via tram number 2 (20 min):
      from Oper, Karlsplatz U take tram 2 (2 or 3 stops in direction Dornbach) to Ring/Volkstheater or to Rathaus
    • Public transport via underground U2 (15 min):
      from Karlsplatz take U2 (purple line, 3 stops in direction Seestadt) to Rathausplatz

Sightseeing options: We are preparing two optional sightseeing routes for getting to the dinner. The sightseeing options will be updated closer to the event.

How to get to Vienna and to TU Wien

The most convenient ways are to fly into Vienna Airport (it will take you about 35 minutes from the airport to TU Wien) or take the train to Vienna main station (via U1 it will take you about 15 minutes from the main railway station to TU Wien).

  • From Wien Hbf (= Vienna main station) to TU Wien

From Wien Hbf (= Vienna main station) you have to take underground U1 (red line, it’s 2 stops in direction Kagran) to Karlsplatz (exit Karlsplatz or Resselpark).

You can buy your Vienna public transport ticket online  (1 trip digital 3,00 €, 24 hours digital 9,70 €, 7 days digital 25,20 €)
or at the red Wien Mobil ticket machines (slightly higher prices) before you go down to the underground station.

  • From the airport to TU Wien

We recommend the trains and there is no difference whether the train goes to Wien Mitte-Landstraße or to Wien Hbf (= Vienna main station) – we suggest to take the next train available and therefore buy a single (no return) ticket directly in the airport train station at the ticket machines.

    • ÖBB Railjet – to Wien Hbf – single 5,30 € (includes the Vienna urban area)
      It takes 15 to 20 minutes between the airport and Wien Hbf (= Vienna main station):
      • You can check time and buy your ticket at the airport train station at the red (ÖBB) ticket machines or online at https://www.oebb.at/en.
      • From Wien Hbf you have to take underground U1 (red line, it’s 2 stops in direction Kagran, no extra ticket needed) to Karlsplatz (exit Karlsplatz or Resselpark).
    • S7 – to Wien Mitte – single 5,30 € (includes the Vienna urban area)
      It takes about 25 minutes between the airport and Wien Mitte:
      • You can check time and buy your ticket at the airport train station at the red (ÖBB) ticket machines or online at https://www.oebb.at/en.
      • From Wien Mitte you have to take underground U4 (green, it’s 2 stops in direction Hütteldorf, no extra ticket needed) to Karlsplatz (exit Karlsplatz or Resselpark).
    • CAT (City Airport Train) to Wien Mitte – single 14,90 € + single for the Vienna urban area 3,20 €
      It takes you non-stop in 16 minutes between the airport and Wien Mitte:
      • daily from the airport from 6:07 to 23:37, every 30 minutes
      • daily from Wien Mitte from 5:37 to 23.07, every 30 minutes
      • You can buy your ticket at the airport train station at the green (CAT) ticket machines or online at https://www.cityairporttrain.com/en/.
      • From Wien Mitte you have to take underground U4 (green, it’s 2 stops in direction Hütteldorf, you need an additional ticket valid within the Vienna urban area) to Karlsplatz (exit Karlsplatz or Resselpark).
